Jilbabs and abayas are common Islamic clothing for women. Though they are popular in the Middle East countries and other Muslim world, the concept of wearing jilbabs and abayas is much debated in the Western World. However, it is the strong influx of the Muslim leaders that has made these apparels common on the streets of several western cities.Jilbabs are long robes and are used as outer garment. They come with separate arms that are stitched to the body of the cloth. The over garments are available in various styles and colors. You can have black outer garments that are pinstriped with different color. They also come in subtle colors with detail pinstripe work on the cuffs. Banarasi Bunkar Samiti, an organization of banarasi handloom weavers along with eight other organizations is initiating the effort to receive the right to the Banarasi silk saree product. GI is a status given to certain products which is related to a specific geographical region or province and entitles certain qualities and privileges due to its geographical origin. The banarasi saree has been facing a lot of competition recently from sarees manufactured in cities like Bhagalpur, Surat and Bangalore and the Geographical Indication is expected to cut the duplicates which had tagged off asbanarasi. Rajni Kant, President of Human Welfare Association (HWA) confirmed the GI status and said “We dedicate this achievement to lakhs of handloom weavers in the region.The Banarasi silksarees are an inevitable part of any Indian bride’s trousseau. All Indian women wear the Banarasi saree important occasions like wedding and are complemented by their finest jewellery. According to the GI certificate, Banarasi silk product fall under four classes (23-26), namely silk embroidery, textile goods, silk brocades, silk sareThe most important aspect of the GI certification is that no brocade or saree made outside the six identified districts of Uttar Pradesh, India can legally be sold as Banarasi saree and Brocade.

The six identified districts are Varanasi, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Chandauli, Mirzapur, and Bhadohi. There are mainly four varieties of Banarasi sarees, among them are Organza (Kora) with zari work, Pure silk (Katan), Georgette, and Shattir. The Banarasi saree and brocade are divided into categories like, Vaskat, Tissu, Butidar,Tanchoi, Jangla, and Cutwork according to the design process.e and dress material.

The recent Bride Show in Abu Dhabi has seen an impressive collection of embellished abayas. Two of them from Oshia Fashion Design were ultra luxurious and extremely stunning and were worth Dh 100,000 each. Abayas by Smooth Lady, Beauty Queen and Princess were also showcased in this show. Thus, we see that the world of fashion has open handedly accepted this ethnic Islamic wear. What originally started off as a traditional Muslim wear for ladies to cover themselves up completely in front of other men, is now been incorporated into the fashion world as a new trend.

Abayas are used to cover everything below the shoulders, only one’s palms and feet are left bare. Traditionally these were available in black, but with changing times even the Muslim community has lost some of its rigidity and hence, they are also available in vibrant colors these days. These have been accepted by women of different regions too, and you will find women wearing them even in western countries where these are known as kaftans. These are in demand and are very comfortable too.

Abayas are made in many different ways and with many different designs. A lot of the influence of the design, colour and material comes from the geographic location of where the abaya is made or worn.An abaya made in Turkey for the local market will ideally have at the least one area of the abaya that has a printed design. The abaya material will be shiny or have a very smooth surface such as using a satin material.The material of the abaya will also be quite thick and of high quality. The Egyptians are very well known for their creativity in styling abayas. The materials used could be from silk, polyester to cotton and georgette. For this shoot by Kelly Defina, makeup artist Leonie Karagiannis used a vibrant yellow liquid liner. You can also experiment with other bold colours – like violet, emerald green, turquoise or tangerine. The key is to line the colour next to black cat eye liner to define the eye and keep it classic with a twist.

1. Start with at flawless base. Apply a powder blush at the apples of the cheeks, lightly blending up along the higher planes of the cheeks then blending softer to the hairline.

2. Lightly conceal the outer edges of the eyes to keep them looking fresh and to provide a base for the eye liner.

3. Apply the black liquid liner first using a fine brush. Start by lining the inner corner of the eyes and winging 3/4 of the way up the mobile lid, elongating at the edges.

4. Next apply the coloured liquid liner, in this case a yellow liner gel, closely following the shape of the black liner.

5. Apply a set of full bar lashes to thicken the lash line for a truly mod makeup look. Make sure you cut the lashes to size.

6. Add a light cream shadow with a hint of sheen to open up the eyes.

7. Follow along the inner corner on the lower lashine with the cream shadow.

8. Bring out lashes by adding mascara, making sure to separate between coats.

To create full glamorous brows fill in the brows using an eye shadow matched closest to the brow colour and apply using upward motions with an angle brush. Set with brow gel.Finish with a contrasting lip colour in a bright shade to really make the look pop.
